cristy cali jewelry

Sometimes I'm contacted by a brand, and we don't fit at all, and sometimes it's a more than perfect fit. Obviously it can fall somewhere in the middle as well, but today is definitely a more than perfect fit kind of post. When Cristy, of Cristy Cali Jewelry contacted me, I was immediately excited because of the fact that she's a New Orleans based jewelry designer. If you've followed me for any amount of time, you will know my deep love for my hometown of New Orleans. It makes me so happy to support a local business, and I'm even happier to share with you some of the most stunning jewelry! Make sure to check out the video below to see her jewelry in action.

elizabeth's

Things have been chaotic for me lately, so this post is definitely behind, but a few weeks ago my sweet parents and I took a little trip to the Bywater for some authentic New Orleans brunch. Elizabeth's is a tiny hole in the wall with a laid back, casual vibe. I'm always happy when I see fried green tomatoes on the menu and some sort of decadent French toast doesn't hurt either. It was also really pretty right outside the restaurant, so obviously I took the opportunity to take some outfit shots. I'm pretty obsessed with this shirt we just got in at the boutique I manage. I mean... it's so festive and fun!

southbound bagel and coffee shop

When your 12 year old nephew asks if you'll take him to brunch... you immediately take him and then let your heart melt a little because you taught him well. Anytime my nieces and nephews want to broaden their culinary horizons; I am completely game. So began the adventures of Jayse and Nannie, and now we're making our way around Hattiesburg. I'm really excited to explore my current city and see what it has to offer.

my current playlist

Music was my first love. It gave me a passion for singing and dancing before I could even walk and it's been there anytime I needed to feel something. It made my love for New Orleans that much stronger, and it bonded my brother and I. I was only a tiny thing when I would sit in the back of his 66' mustang and yell "turn it up!" I discovered The Eagles, The Beatles, U2, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors in that backseat. He was constantly introducing me to great stuff. I mean... Who buys their 10 year old sister the Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians album? It's still one of my favorite albums to this day. I'm so lucky to have been exposed to so many incredible artists at such a young age. My love and appreciation of music has only deepened throughout the years and my library has grown exponentially. I am constantly on the hunt for new music. Luckily, most people in my life are aware of this so new stuff basically falls in my lap. Lately I've felt so inspired and motivated and I know my current playlist has helped with that. I hope you find something that sparks your interest and helps you feel something.

hansen's sno-bliz

It is officially my favorite time of year in the south! Snoball time! And Hansen's is the creme de la creme when it comes to snoballs. After all, they've been doing this since 1939. Just look for a little white house on the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Bordeaux with the twenty person deep line. Trust me when I say I've had my fair share of snoballs, and it's definitely worth the wait. I highly suggest the cream of nectar, but I promise you can't go wrong with any of the flavors.

hitting the refresh button

Life can be pretty overwhelming. That's why I think it's completely necessary to stop and recharge from time to time, although we all have completely different needs when it comes to recharging. For me, I need alone time to relax and reflect on everything that has been going on. I need at least 20 minutes with my devotional and q and a journal everyday. If I can also fit in some time to sing, enjoy a cup of tea and cuddle up to an episode of whatever current Netflix show I'm binge watching, then I consider that recharge a total success!

the farm

If you read my Malibu post, then you'll know that it was one of my favorite places in Los Angeles. Everything about Malibu brought me peace and made me feel like I had traveled somewhere far away for the day. The best part was coming back and feeling completely refreshed. These days Malibu is a little more than an hour trip up Pacific Coast Highway, so I'm going to show you my new favorite place to get away.

my new orleans

I like to think of my blog as a picture book; lots of imagery and minimal writing. For me personally,  I've always been way more into looking at the photos on blogs than reading the actual post, so when I revamped my blog a year ago I decided to make it center around the pictures and keep the writing short and sweet. But every once in awhile I get the itch to write about something heartfelt and so today I bring you something very personal and dear to my heart. This is my New Orleans, and this is why I moved back to her.

willa jean

I'm so excited to bring this post to y'all today. I've started a new chapter in my life and I have returned to the South. Technically I live in Mississippi, but my hometown is just a couple hours away. New Orleans and I have some serious catching up to do, and I couldn't be more pumped to get to know  my favorite city all over again. I'll talk a little more about my return in a future post, but for now it's back to my classic 'follow me around' post.
