cecconi's

Today I'm taking you with me to one of my favorite classic L.A. spots. Cecconi's is bright and airy and utterly chic. It's set back from the street behind a white wall covered in greenery, but the prettiest sight is seen once you walk through the double door entrance.

nutella sea salt brownies

Lately I have been really inspired by food videos. I love the creativity and the drama of them. I get excited to see the finished product, and my mouth waters as my brain runs wild with ideas of future videos. When I stumbled upon this amazing sea salt nutella brownie recipe by Sallys Baking Addiction, I knew I had found what I wanted to make. This video was mainly made for fun and to see how far I could push my editing and creative skills. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I'm looking forward to making more. I'm thinking a really fancy grilled cheese and tomato soup is next?? I hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you make the brownies!

5 steps for the perfect spray tan

I have been a tan fanatic since I was pretty young. I'm so ashamed to say, but I was a slave to the sun and tanning bed for years. I have completely changed from my careless ways, and have been loving spray tanning for awhile now. Today I'm going to walk you through my full 'prep' routine, and show you how to achieve the best and longest lasting spray tan possible.

back to school lookbook

Even though it's been a minute since I've been a student, I still wanted to offer a few suggestions for back to school outfits. Shopping for back to school clothes and supplies always made the beginning of the school year that much more exciting for me. It's like having a fresh start every 12 months. I broke the looks down into 3 categories: Preppy, Edgy and Comfy/Casual, and I was able to pair a matching Kipling bag with all 3 looks! I've really fallen in love with this brand. The bags are such good quality and super versatile. Also, make sure to check out the video below if you want to see me modeling everything. Happy new school year to all those headed back!

greenleaf

I'm really excited to take you into my neck of the woods today. I've lived in the heart of Hollywood for the last five years, so I have a soft spot for this part of LA. Recently it's been growing at a very rapid pace, and the best part is all of the awesome healthy restaurants that have been added.

some things i learned in my twenties

Last week I rang in my 31st birthday, and it got me thinking. There are definitely some things I took away from that second decade of life that I could pass on. Don't people always say, "If I knew then what I know now..." Well, here's what I know.

zinque

We are way overdue for a 'follow me around' post, so here we go... This place has been on my list for quite some time, so I was super excited when a friend asked if we could do lunch. I wasn't really sure what to expect since it's pretty hidden, but let me just tell you... it's a dreamy little spot.

my top 10 travel essentials

Today's post brings together my two favorite things: travel and organization. My annual summer family vacation is finally here, and it gave me the idea to give you guys a look at the things I need when traveling. The majority of these things are bags that help keep me organized, but I've thrown a few other randoms in there as well.

summer mornings

Summer is definitely my favorite season. I'm originally from the South, so I live for warm weather and days spent at the pool. Isn't it great waking up, knowing it's gonna be a beautiful, summery day?

Today's video gives you a peak inside my summer morning. I'm definitely a creature of habit, so unless I have to film, shoot, or [take the day off for brunch with the girls ;),] this is pretty much what every day of summer will look like for me.

the tasting kitchen

Every now and then I get a Saturday off, and when I do I try to take full advantage. This past Saturday was one example. I had the day free, it was going to be 90 degrees outside, and I've been itching to spend a day in Venice Beach. So that's exactly what I did.

rose' all day

I am a wine connoisseur. Working in a high end steakhouse and having to learn a whole wine menu will do that to a girl. Even though my days of serving steaks are over, the wine knowledge and enjoyment I get from learning about and tasting wines has stuck with me.

larchmont

On my very first trip to visit Los Angeles I stayed with some family friends. They told me about a quaint little street off of Melrose where I could find a really sweet stationary shop. At the time I was trying to get hired at Enterprise and needed to send a thank you card after the interview. I'm so glad things went in the direction they did. I never ended up working there, but I did discover a quiet oasis that grounds me and kind of reminds me of my adorable college town of Oxford, MS. Larchmont is lined with the most beautiful trees, loveliest boutiques, and some super delicious restaurants. If you're from a small town, or need a quieter place to shop, then this is your heaven.

let's stay in

Every girl deserves at least one night a week reserved for pampering. It could be something as little as just a simple bubble bath, or a super lengthy list of relaxation musts. Either way, I think we all need that time to ourselves. Today I'm showing you my current pamper routine, along with some of my absolute favorite products of the moment.

my favorite cookbooks

I love food. If you're new to this blog, then one thing I would say you should know about me is that I really, really love food. I think it has a lot to do with the places that have shaped me. I was born and raised in New Orleans...incredible food, definitely not healthy, but some of the best. I got married in Paris... also, some of the best food and restaurants on the planet. I currently reside in Los Angeles, and although there are places with much more renown food scenes, ours is definitely making a name for itself.

I also really love to cook. I've loved to cook for as long as I can remember, and over the years I have accumulated quite the cookbook collection. Today I've narrowed it down to my top 5 favorites. I think you'll see quite a range in just these 5. No matter what you're into, healthy, not healthy, vegetarian... I've got a book for you.

erin condren life planner launch

If you saw my last Erin Condren post, then you know how much I love Erin Condren. My desk is where I spend the majority of my time, so having cute desk supplies is key to my productivity. (That's what I tell myself anyway.) I was super pumped to get invited to the launch of the new life planner. Not only was it held at a place that is Instagram heaven (and owned by Jessica Biel,) but it was also really exciting getting to see all the new goodies. Her main focus is obviously the planner, but do not overlook the stickers, notebooks, pens, markers...and the list goes on. Seriously, y'all... how many of you had a sticker book when you were little? I definitely did, and Erin recreated it, but made it for grownups. I think it might be my favorite out of all the new items.

summer date night

There is something about going on a date in the summertime that makes it a little more special. Growing up in the south, I really enjoyed being able to throw on little dresses and sandals, and feeling the warmth on my skin at 9pm.  [The smell of BBQ is also probably my favorite sense memory of all time.] There is a feeling of relaxation in the air, and everything is just a little more casual. I really loved creating this look, and my dress was a total steal! Check out the video below if you want to see the look from start to finish.

joan's on third

Although I really enjoy finding new and undiscovered hidden gems, a long lunch at a classic spot is equally as nice sometimes. Joan's on Third is a pretty happening place, especially at lunchtime, but the commotion can actually be refreshing when you spend the majority of your days at a desk. It also didn't hurt that it was one of those perfect LA days... 70 and sunny with not a cloud in sight. I met one of my good friends today for an overdue birthday celebration. Don't you just love those friends that completely get you, and are super easy to talk to?? Me too.

#girlboss

I don't get as much time to sit down and read as I would like, so when I actually do get time, I'm super picky about what I choose to read. I know I'm super late with my current choice, but I'm so thankful I wandered into the bookstore on a lazy afternoon and grabbed this gem.

lush bath

I recently decided to step up my exercise game, which also means a lot more baths. I love a good soak after killing myself in the gym. I've been using Epsom Salts, which are amazing, but decided to treat myself to a trip to Lush. I think every girl deserves a good bath bomb or bubble bar tossed into their bath from time to time. First of all, they smell incredible, and secondly, they give you the softest skin. Not to mention, they make bath time a little more interesting with all their colors and surprises (I'm talking about you glitter.) Last night I decided to try out Intergalactic, and now I'm disappointed that I didn't grab more of them. The smell was so soothing and delicious, and it left my skin crazy soft. I have a feeling another trip is in my near future.

the wizarding world of harry potter

I live for a good theme park, so I'm ashamed to say that I've lived in Hollywood for 5 years and had never been to Universal... until this week. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so when they added the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to the park, that was the final push I needed. Universal is definitely a must for movie lovers. The Studio Tour and the Mummy ride were my favorites! As for the Harry Potter portion of the park... it's definitely magical. My only complaint is that I wish it had all the rides Orlando has. Hollywood needs more Harry! [P.S. The frozen butterbeer was so good we went back for seconds!]

view from the top

Los Angeles is known for incredible views, and if you don't mind a little bit of a hike, the Griffith Observatory offers one of the best views of the city. Once you step inside there is also a really interesting museum with shows and beautiful exhibits. It would be especially appealing to someone interested in space. My in laws and I visited the Observatory this past week, and I'll let the pictures do the talking...

winsome

Tucked away on a quiet, tree-lined street in Echo Park, is a brand new restaurant that resembles an old school diner. Winsome is everything I'm looking for in a brunch spot: brightly lit, friendly vibe, and a menu that contains the staples [lattes, fried eggs and pancakes]. For whatever reason I rarely venture into this part of town, but it's spots like this that make me want to change that.

office supplies

I have been obsessed with planners, stationary, notebooks, pens, etc. for as long as I can remember. I bought almost the entire Lisa Frank line with my birthday money as a kid, and even as an adult I have always strived to have the cutest and trendiest of all desk accessories. I try to tell myself it's because it will make me more productive, but let's be honest, it's really just because I'm a total crazy person when it comes to this stuff. I found out about Erin Condren and her gorgeous line about a year ago and immediately ordered my first Life Planner. I have been hooked ever since, so when I was asked if I wanted to be sent some of their new stuff I died a little. This stuff is real cute y'all... seriously. Not to mention it's gonna keep you super organized, which I am totally into. To see everything I was sent, along with a peek at my Life Planner and how everything works, check out the video below. ladies that lunch

I'm always on the lookout for new spots in LA to grab lunch. If it's aesthetically pleasing that's a major bonus. Awhile back I stumbled upon some really cute pics of Stir Market and knew I had to check it out. It was a total hit for me and my friend Stacy. It has the prettiest outdoor patio, a sweet little market, a full espresso bar, and wait for it... a parking lot!! You're welcome.

sunday market

The Hollywood Farmers Market is one of my favorite things in Hollywood. It takes place every Sunday from 8-1 between Cahuenga and Ivar, and there is a TON to see. The produce is definitely lacking in LA, so the market is a great spot to get fresh produce, and also discover some unique small businesses. My only complaint is that I wish it didn't close so early, ya know, for us that like to sleep in ;)

yummy green smoothie

Food is my thing. My husband and I love to eat out more than doing almost anything else, but there comes a time when you start to get older and you realize you need to treat your body right. That's where the green drink comes in. I searched high and low for a green smoothie that tasted delicious. It was almost impossible to find, until one day I stumbled upon one that I liked. Then, I put my own spin on it. The main thing I like about my green drink is that it involves protein, so you actually feel full after drinking it. The key is finding the right protein powder, which is easier said than done. Lucky for you I think I have found the one and I'm here to share it with you.

skincare

What I put on my face is beyond important to me. It has been a very long, not to mention expensive!, journey to get to the place I'm at now. I am so happy with my skin these days, and it's these products and a few more that I have to thank. Along with amazing skin experts that guided me in the right direction. Check out the video below for an in depth explanation of the products I'm loving and how I incorporate them into my daily routine.

malibu

There are a few places that really set my mind at ease: New Orleans(my hometown), certain places in Florida where I went as a kid, and now that I live in Los Angeles... Malibu. I'll always hate that the water is freezing year round, and it takes at least an hour to get there, but it's always worth the trip.
